Elevated Industrial Solutions is thrilled to have Shannon Griffin join the company as our new Human Resources (HR) Coordinator. She’s finding and recruiting people for a wide variety of positions, nationwide.
And Elevated desperately needed her.
Over the course of the past few years, Elevated has grown incredibly. Just five years ago, the company had about 15 employees. Since then, we’ve added employees through mergers and acquisitions as well as organic growth (adding customers). Today, Elevated has more than 130 employees … and there’s no sign of stopping. As new customers continue to sign up or as we look for companies to join forces with, we’ll add people.
That’s why Shannon’s position is so important.
Shannon graduated from Florida State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She first entered the world of recruiting when she took on a role for Ascent Services Group. After working there for a time, she was recruited to work as a Senior Scientific Recruiter for the Hydrogen Group.
Shannon enjoyed recruiting in the life sciences and manufacturing industries but wanted to move beyond only recruiting. Her role now involves not just finding candidates, but also walking them through every step of the onboarding process. She guides them through benefits, teaches them about the company, provides brand information, and whatever else it may take to ensure their first day at Elevated is a success! Plus, she’s taking on a myriad other HR tasks.
Every company wants high-quality, hard-working, and reliable people. At Elevated, we also need a wide array of positions – from an experienced service technician for compressed air systems to hiring salespeople who understand our distribution model for industrial supplies.
Shannon is responsible for the entire recruiting process and uses different boards to recruit, including Indeed and LinkedIn. After she finds good candidates, she talks with them to determine if it’s the right fit for both the person and Elevated. Then, she’ll recommend candidates conduct in-person or over-the-phone interviews with managers and leaders.
She’s busy! At any given time, Elevated may have two to eight positions open. Usually, there are about four jobs to fill quickly, so Shannon has plenty of work.
While no position is “easy” to fill, some are certainly more difficult than others. Shannon says that technical positions are trickier to fill, while roles that apply to almost all industries are easier. For example, data analysts and accounting professionals are easier to find. However, when she needs an assembly tool repair coordinator, a narrow and specific skillset, she has more difficulty. It’s why Elevated has an employee program to recommend friends. (If you’re friends with an Elevated employee, ask about it!)
Work-life balance is important. Shannon rejuvenates by spending time outdoors. She enjoys hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures. Denver, Colorado is the perfect location. For those not familiar with the Rocky Mountain state, it’s where mountain trails and backpacking adventures are just a few minutes away. The scenery is breathtaking.
Shannon also loves to travel, taking trips whenever she has the time. She loves traveling so much that she even spent two and a half years overseas, working in Sydney, Australia as an executive family assistant.
Her other hobbies include baking (mostly cakes) and spending time with her dog. She’s an avid reader who enjoys romantic comedies, science fiction, fantasy, and other genres.
